There may be no cozier place to spend the holidays than a cabin in the Gorge. The crowds are gone, the bare-tree views open up the cliffs and arches, and the whole point of the trip is to slow down — a fire going, the hot tub steaming, and nowhere you have to be.
Why it works for the holidays.
- Quiet. Late December is about as peaceful as the Gorge gets — empty trails and long, still evenings.
- Cozy by design. A fireplace, a hot tub under a cold sky, and a full kitchen to cook a holiday meal in is the whole appeal.
- A different kind of gift. A weekend in a cabin makes an easy present for the couple or family who'd rather have an experience than another thing.
What to do. Hike the overlooks while the winter views are wide open, take the scenic drive, and warm up back at the cabin. If you want a frozen-waterfall walk, a cold snap can turn Creation Falls to ice.
Plan ahead. Our cabins are open and available year-round, but many local restaurants and shops cut their hours or close around the holidays, with no consistent schedule — so plan to cook in, and check ahead before you count on anything being open. Pack layers and traction for icy trails.
Where to stay
For the holidays, lean toward a cabin with a hot tub and a fireplace. Simply Irresistible and Great Expectations are built for exactly this; Sunday Blues and Manor House add seclusion if you want true quiet. Browse all our cabins →
