Planning a trip for ten or more people to Red River Gorge is genuinely one of the better ideas for a group vacation in the eastern US. The area has enough to do that different people in the group can split off and do their own thing — climbers go climbing, hikers go hiking, people who want to sit on a deck and drink coffee do that — and everyone reconvenes at the cabin in the evenings. The question is just which cabin.
The Manor House
For groups of ten to sixteen, The Manor House is the clear answer. It sits at the highest point in Cliffview Resort — what locals call the Island in the Sky — with a wraparound deck overlooking the surrounding cliffs and forest. Five bedrooms, five baths, and the sleeping is split thoughtfully: three queen master suites, a bunk room with three full beds, and a loft with four twins. That configuration handles a reunion, a bachelor group, or a corporate retreat without anyone feeling like they drew the short straw on sleeping arrangements.
The amenities are genuinely useful for large groups: foosball table, board games, a separate entertainment building with a pool table, 70-inch TV, and a hot tub on the deck that fits enough people to make it social rather than intimate. The kitchen is fully stocked and seats eight at the table plus bar seating for four.
One thing worth noting: The Manor House sits at the tip of the resort's highest point. In the evenings, you can watch zipliners crossing the canyon from the deck. For a group, that becomes entertainment in itself. The property is 2,600 square feet on two private acres. It's rated 4.84 with 68 reviews. Pet-friendly with a fee.
What about groups of 6-9?
If your group is in the six to nine range, you have more flexibility. Sunday Blues handles six comfortably with three bedrooms, two baths, a hot tub, and a fire pit. Nature's Sanctuary is similar — three bedrooms, six guests, hot tub, and two levels of deck space. Both are rated in the top tier of Airbnb listings in the area.
For a group of eight or nine that wants private space, two adjacent cabins can sometimes be arranged — ask through Airbnb and we'll tell you what's available and close to each other on the property.
What to do with a large group in Red River Gorge
The area organizes well for groups. Out The Top Adventures at Cliffview runs guided side-by-side ATV tours that groups love — it's one of the few activities that works for mixed-ability groups where not everyone hikes. The Gorge Underground does guided kayak tours through a cave system that holds up to groups of twenty. Red River Gorge Zipline is right on property if you're staying at Cliffview.
For evenings, fire pits, cornhole, and The Manor House's deck handle the social logistics better than any planned activity could. Message us through Airbnb if you're putting together a group trip and want help figuring out logistics.
