Where to Stay Near Natural Bridge State Park, Kentucky

Natural Bridge State Park in Slade, Kentucky is one of the most-visited destinations in the Daniel Boone National Forest and one of the most visually striking parks in the state. The formation itself — a natural sandstone arch spanning 78 feet — is the centerpiece, but the surrounding park offers hiking, a Skylift, a swimming pool in season, and access to the broader Red River Gorge geological area. The question most visitors ask before they arrive is where to stay.

The honest answer: Cliffview Resort

The park-run lodge inside Natural Bridge State Resort Park is the obvious first thought. But if you want more space, a private hot tub, a fire pit, a full kitchen, and a cabin experience that actually feels like a cabin — Cliffview Resort is a better answer and it's eight minutes from the park entrance. All of our 14 cabin rentals are located inside or adjacent to it, ten to fifteen minutes from the park on low-traffic roads.

What to do at Natural Bridge

The Original Trail is the classic — a moderately difficult hike that winds through a sandstone gorge, past rock shelters and waterfalls, up to the arch itself. Round trip is about two miles with elevation gain. The Skylift runs in season and carries you to the top of the arch in about four minutes — the view at the top is identical to the one you'd earn on the hike. The Henson's Cave Arch Trail is less visited and worth doing if you have a second morning.

The park also connects to the broader Red River Gorge trail system, which means you can hike directly into the Gorge from Natural Bridge without getting in a car. The Rough Trail junction is accessible from the park.

Best cabins for Natural Bridge visitors

For couples, Simply Irresistible and Great Expectations are both within ten minutes of the park and both rated above 4.9. For families or small groups, Nature's Sanctuary fits well — three bedrooms, hot tub, two levels of deck. For a large family reunion using Natural Bridge as the anchor, The Manor House handles it: 16 guests, five bedrooms, two private acres, hot tub, fire pit, and a pool table.
